I’m pretty sure this is what Jesus is all about.
Today I went to a service for one of my mom’s co-workers. His name was Jimmy. His partner hosted it their home. Jimmy was only 42 and he died a week ago. He had adopted his sisters son because she was unfit to raise him herself. Jimmy and Drew took on the challenging task of raising a toddler with ADD who had been bounced from foster home to foster home his whole life. Drew and Jimmy had been together for 18 years. They were a beautiful couple. At the service, Drew was devestated. He could barely let out two sentences without letting out a dry sob. He would grab and hug his son at every opportunity, even though Bruce didn’t really understand what was happening. Drew was an emotional wreck. He was overwhelmed. He was devestated. He was scared. He was alone. All I could think of was how beautiful love is, no matter its form. A lot of people think gay relationships are just based on socially unacceptable sex and perverted fantasies. You don’t get that broken up over someone like Drew did just because you can’t have sex with them anymore. Even though Drew was in terrible shape, it made me so happy to know a love as strong as theirs exists in the world.I think everyone needs to read this.
